Carrying Forward a Dynasty
Arrowhead (T-84) is a third-generation icon of Ranthambore. The daughter of Krishna (T-19) and granddaughter of Machali (T-16), she was destined for greatness from birth. The distinctive arrowhead-shaped marking on her forehead made her instantly recognisable, and she quickly became one of the most sought-after tigers for safari-goers visiting the park.
Ruling the Prime Zones
Arrowhead holds dominion over some of the most scenic terrain in all of Ranthambore. Her territory spans the corridors around:
- Rajbagh Talao — she is often spotted swimming effortlessly across the lake, a spectacle that draws gasps from onlookers
- Padam Talao — the lotus-covered waters where she rests during the heat of the day
- Jogi Mahal — the ancient hunting lodge near which she frequently patrols at dusk
A Hunter Without Hesitation
What distinguishes Arrowhead from other tigers in the park is her complete indifference to human presence during hunts. She has been documented making kills just a few metres away from tourist vehicles, displaying a composure and focus that wildlife photographers dream of capturing. Her athleticism in water is equally remarkable — she pursues sambar deer into the lakes and drags prey out with brute strength.
Continuing the Bloodline
Arrowhead has successfully reared multiple litters of cubs. Each new generation she produces strengthens the Machali lineage that has become inseparable from Ranthambore’s identity. Her cubs are regularly observed practising their hunting techniques under her watchful supervision near the lakeshores.
“When Arrowhead steps out of the tall grass by Rajbagh lake, the entire jungle falls silent. She doesn’t demand attention — she commands it.”
